What does a rocket launch feel like? - Lauren

Well, according to Nasa's astronauts, there is a procedure of what you feel and when. First, when you are getting ready to launch, you get nervous because you hear hundreds of different voices underneath you and that's when you know they are getting ready for the countdown and launch. Then, it feels and sounds like a giant beast is waking up because you hear the "roar" and groans of the engine and the valves opening and closing as the engine systems are pressurizing. After that, when the first engines start to light up, you feel low rumbling and shaking, and this time, it's way louder. Soon after, things get so loud that you can't hear the countdown happen. Then, you very slowly feel yourself lifting up and higher and higher. Suddenly, you feel the gravity force get way stronger and then you feel yourself being pushed to the back of your seat so hard. After that, you feel two more bangs, that's when you know that the 4 strap-on boosters have separated, and when the nose fairing comes off. Later on, the windows get uncovered and you can see light coming in and that's when you know you're in space. Then, at the separation stage 2, you feel another bang and the gravity load drops really quickly. Next, the third stage engine lights and you get pushed forward and the gravity load comes back again. About eight minutes later, there is a loud and big bang and that is the last section of the rocket being jettisoned from the spacecraft. Then, you are there, in space and it feels like you are hanging upside down in your shoulder harness the reason is because there is nothing holding and pushing you against/into your seat anymore and everything is floating even you. It's the most amazing feeling, being in space because not everyone gets to go to space and lots of people dream to be there, so when you are there, you feel special and lucky, and just overall amazing. It feels like going on a really big drop on a roller coaster, and it makes you feel sick or unwell and your stomach hurt. It also makes you get butterflies in your stomach and it's like a big drop on a really big roller coaster.
